Winter has arrived. Not the nice crisp snow, walk the dog, bag some Munros type of winter, but the slushy get wet feet going to work and the dog gets filthy anytime he goes out of the house type of winter.

The good news is that this has finally given me time to get my blog moved from Blogger to its new home on the computer under the stairs. I took a lot of convincing that a blog was an indispensible part of the internet age. Blogger provided a painless way to test the water – the user interface is really well done.

But, from what I’ve tried so far, WordPress isn’t too far off in terms of usability. It’s open-source (it runs on LAMP); and it also imports content from my old Blogger site (although it doesn’t import images or change internal links). Who knows, I might even hack some of the php before I’ve finished.

So, it’s goodbye to Blogger, and hello WordPress.
