More doubts about MS-Office 2007

April 4th, 2006

I noted earlier rumblings from analysts that MS-Office 2007 migration is a big leap in the dark. Another article by an independent analyst warns that MS-Office 2007 should not be an automatic choice:

A leading IT analyst recommends that organisations seriously evaluate alternatives to upgrading to Microsoft’s next generation of products, Office 2007 and Vista.
According to former Meta Group senior analyst, Dr Kevin McIsaac, now of research firm IBRS, organisations should take the window of opportunity presented by Microsoft by not releasing its new products until 2007 to investigate open source and web service desktop alternatives.

My earlier posting explained the risk MS is taking and the opportunities this gives for OpenOffice.org. This is just the kind of background we need to build the momentum for a breathtaking Conference in the autumn.

Thanks Bill!
