Amsterdam, The Netherlands
February 19th, 2008This is one of a series of reviews of the rival bids to host the OpenOffice.org Annual Conference 2008 (OOoCon).
Proposal
The Dutch team have submitted the slimmest of all the proposals, using just 100 out of a possible 400 words to answer the Key Question. The Mandatory Information is complete, although the venue has not been finalised. The team does contain a number of well known community activists. The Optional section contains minimal additional information, and nothing on accommodation. There is no Supplementary information, and the website contains no additional details. Score: 1/5
Why Amsterdam?
Although the proposal states that the Netherlands “is a hotspot for ODF and OpenOffice.org deployments”, there is nothing in the proposal to suggest how delegates could learn from this experience, or how hosting OOoCon would help OOo in the Netherlands. Score: 1/5
Koper Factor
Nothing at all in the proposal about the social or community side of the conference – not even a link to a local tourist office website. There must be lots of great things delegates could do in this city – but the proposal isn’t telling. Score: 0/5
