Budapest, Hungary
February 22nd, 2008This is one of a series of reviews of the rival bids to host the OpenOffice.org Annual Conference 2008 (OOoCon).
Proposal
The Hungarian proposal is comprehensive. Their answer to the Key Question is short, but uses bullet points to make its point concisely. The Mandatory section is complete with a comprehensive section on visas. The Optional section gives a good account of local OOo activity, travel, accomodation, and other information for travellers. The Supplementary section is very strong on social activities. Score: 4/5
Why Budapest?
The team emphasise the enthusiastic local community and what they have achieved – with an impressive list of deployments. It would be useful to hear how the team would make use of OOoCon for publicity etc., or how the wider community could learn from their experience. Score: 1/5
Koper Factor
The team are clearly very proud of their city and the tourism possibilities, although taking advantage of all the formal ‘activities’ could make for a rather expensive holiday. Many conference delegates are on very tight budgets. Cafe life is more accessible to all, and receives a mention. Score: 3/5
