This is the last of a series of reviews of the rival bids to host the OpenOffice.org Annual Conference 2008 (OOoCon).

Proposal

The Italian team make full use of their 400 words to answer the Key Question. The Mandatory section is complete, although the visa information is sparse. The team contains some well-known activists, and one of the leads was also a lead for OOo 2005 in Koper. The Optional Information answers all the questions. Supplementary Information includes a large section on the conference rooms. Score: 4/5

Why Orvieto?

The proposal details the strengths of the local OOo community and the successes particularly in public administration, with local support for the bid. There are lessons learned locally which coud be applied elsewhere. The team also have experience in holding a local annual conference. They propose trying an innovation at OOoCon - a parallel local language track to help drive OOo adoption in Italy. Score: 4/5

Koper Factor

With a Koper veteran co-leading this bid, it is not surprising that the team place great emphasis on the charms of the location. The proposal covers cafe life, tourist activities, climate, and local specialities. With a stated population of 21,000 - about half that of Koper - this is not a big city bid. Score: 5/5
