Making an exhibition of ourselves
February 4th, 2009One of the accusations levelled at the OpenOffice.org Community was that we were all so busy getting OpenOffice.org 3 out the door in 2008 that we were losing touch with people who could help us do the job, particularly potential new developers.
As always, there was probably more myth than truth in this – we know the importance of attracting new developers – but we’ve got the message and are making a conscious attempt to “get out more” in 2009, with the Marketing Project helping get the right people in the right place at the right time.
Three upcoming examples:
- FOSDEM – the “the biggest, bestest (sic) Free and Open Source Software Developers’ meeting in Europe” – 7th-8th February in Brussels, Belgium – and OpenOffice.org have a Dev Room
- GNUnify 09 – “an annual gathering of the techies” – 13th-14th February in Pune, India – OpenOffice.org will be there for both days with a Programming OpenOffice.org Workshop
- CeBIT – one of the world’s largest IT trade shows – 3rd-8th March in Hannover, Germany – OpenOffice.org will be in Hall 6, booth E46-12
We look forward to meeting old friends, and introducing new developers to the exciting world of OpenOffice.org coding.
