Followers of the OpenOffice.org Marketing Planet will have noticed the return of the Bouncer download counter. Following suspicious behaviour, it’s now designed to err on the cautious side. You may notice occasional backdated jumps in the data – if the algorithms reject some of the numbers, we’re able to go back, audit them, and if necessary change the figures.

I was also amused to see today’s figure of 41,006,000 downloads. This isn’t some smoothed figure – it is an actual total of all the downloads since the launch of 3.0. Maybe one of the mathematicians among you can calculate the odds of seeing such a ’round’ number?
