Benchmarks galore

April 1st, 2009

Benchmarking software is a thankless task. It takes hours, days, weeks… to set up automated tests, months to try and make sense of the results, and then seconds for everyone plus dog to trash your results.

Congratulations to Andrew Z for making the attempt to benchmark OpenOffice.org 3.0 on various platforms and present the results on his OOoNinja blog. Presenting Openoffice.org results alongside the go-oo fork, and GNU/Linux against MS-Windows is a brave thing to do. No doubt the controversy will rage for some time, but read it yourself and make your own mind up!
