Out of curiosity, I made a little graph comparing the number of downloads of OpenOffice.org 3.1 in the week after launch with the comparable figures for 3.0. As expected, there wasn’t the same level of excitement for a minor (.1) launch – and this time the download page didn’t crash under the strain

However, I think we can be pleased with the results. The download counter is currently showing nearly 3 million downloads of the new release – not bad for a product with no “paid for” advertising!
